:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Abbigail Holmes -- Fascinating Read : I like when letters are included in a novel, like part of a story. I liked that in Bram Stoker's Dracula and I like it here. There is something in adding letters, they allow us to establish another, deeper connection with characters of the book, and thus, to understand better their emotions and thoughts they have about a particular situation. The other reason I like letters is that I simply like the style in which they are written. It is so wonderful to read how people communicated in those days. Johnson -- Very disappointing because my purchased copy was missing the last section : Walton In Continuation! : I thought the ending was weird, until I went online and realized that the copy of the book I was sent was actually missing the ending! This publication is missing significant sections of the novel : I was confused when halfway through the novel the story stopped and then started again in a completely non-continuous way. Turns out this is because a whole section was missing. I then realized that the last several chapters were also missing. What kind of terrible money-seeking miscreants would perpetrate this kind of fraud? I just worry that so many readers may think that this is actually the book as Mary Shelley wrote it. And to be crystal clear, this is not a question of the earlier version of the novel versus the later one. This is at best incredible negligence. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2021 )
